Question 1

What is a drone roof survey?

Accepted Answer

A drone roof survey uses a CAA-licensed unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) to capture high-resolution imagery of your roof from multiple angles and elevations. Our pilot flies the drone around your property, recording detailed footage and photographs that are then used to produce a written condition report — all without the need for scaffolding, ladders, or any disruption to your home.

Question 2

Why use a drone instead of a traditional roof inspection?

Accepted Answer

Traditional roof inspections typically require scaffolding or ladders, which are costly, time-consuming, and disruptive. A drone survey achieves the same level of visual detail in a fraction of the time, at a significantly lower cost, and with no physical access to your property required. It's also safer for everyone involved.

Question 3

What areas do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We currently cover Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. If you're unsure whether we operate in your area, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

Question 4

How long does the survey take?

Accepted Answer

Most residential surveys take between 30 and 60 minutes on site, depending on the size and complexity of the property. You don't need to be present during the flight, though we'll always let you know when we're arriving.

Question 5

Are your pilots licensed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All of our drone pilots hold a valid CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) flyer ID and operator ID, and operate in full compliance with UK drone regulations. We carry full public liability insurance on every flight.

Question 6

Is it safe to fly a drone near my property?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Our pilots are trained and experienced in operating drones safely in residential environments. We conduct a full site assessment before every flight and follow all CAA guidelines, including maintaining safe distances from people, structures, and airspace restrictions.

Question 7

Do you need permission from my neighbours?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, no. Our pilots operate within the legal requirements set by the CAA, which allow drone flight over and around residential properties without requiring neighbour consent. We always aim to be considerate and minimise any disruption.

Question 8

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my survey?

Accepted Answer

We monitor weather conditions closely before every survey. If conditions are unsuitable for safe drone operation — such as high winds, heavy rain, or poor visibility — we'll contact you to rearrange at no extra cost.

Question 9

What does the report include?

Accepted Answer

Every report includes high-resolution imagery of all roof elevations, a written condition summary in plain English, and identification of any visible defects or areas of concern. Reports are delivered as a PDF to your email address.

Question 10

How long does it take to receive my report?

Accepted Answer

Standard reports are delivered within 72 hours of the survey. If you need your report sooner, you can add our Fast-Track option for next-day delivery — just an additional £49.

Question 11

Can I use the report with a contractor or insurer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our reports are produced in a clear, professional format suitable for sharing with roofing contractors, insurance companies, solicitors, or mortgage lenders. If you need a specific format or additional information included, please let us know when you enquire.

Question 12

Will the report tell me how much repairs will cost?

Accepted Answer

Our reports identify and describe visible defects but do not include cost estimates for repairs — that's best provided by a qualified roofing contractor once they've assessed the work required. Our report gives you the evidence you need to get accurate quotes.

Question 13

How much does a drone roof survey cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing is based on property type: Terraced £199, Semi-Detached £249, Standard Detached £299, Large Detached £349. Commercial or non-standard properties are priced on enquiry. All prices include the drone flight, imagery, and written report delivered within 72 hours.

Question 14

What is the Fast-Track option?

Accepted Answer

Fast-Track is an add-on available on any survey that upgrades your report delivery to the next working day after the survey. It costs an additional £49 and can be selected when you submit your enquiry.

Question 15

How do I book a survey?

Accepted Answer

Simply fill in our online enquiry form or give us a call. We'll confirm your survey date within one working day — and in most cases we can book within the week.

Question 16

Do I need to be home during the survey?

Accepted Answer

No — you don't need to be present during the drone flight. We just need to be able to access the exterior of the property. We'll confirm all the details with you when we arrange the booking.
